Start with the Application Scenario

Every rising bollard selection begins with a clear understanding of the site. Government buildings, commercial plazas, school campuses, industrial parks, and pedestrian streets have very different security requirements, traffic frequencies, and installation constraints. Before comparing models, answer three questions: Who needs access? How often does traffic pass? What are the underground conditions at the entrance?

The answers determine which bollard family fits: fully automatic bollards for frequent vehicle access, semi-automatic bollards for low-frequency use without power supply, fixed bollards for permanent exclusion zones, and movable bollards for temporary control.

Fully automatic electro-hydraulic drive (YC-01, YC-02)

An integrated hydraulic system driven by a 350 W motor raises and lowers the column in 3-5 seconds. It works at 220 V with IP68 waterproofing, making it the first choice for entrances where vehicles pass frequently and remote or automatic control is required. The 304 stainless steel column, 6 mm wall thickness, 3M reflective tape, and warning light provide day-and-night visibility.

Hydraulic lifting column (PM-HLC-S804B)

For heavy-duty applications, the PM-HLC-S804B is designed with an electro-hydraulic drive, a three-guide structure, and a drainage device. It can be crossed by 40-ton container trucks, rises within 4 seconds, lowers within 2 seconds, and operates from -35 °C to 75 °C. Emergency stop and emergency lowering functions are included as standard.

Semi-automatic key operation (YC-03)

When no power supply or wiring is available, the YC-03 semi-automatic bollard is the practical answer. Mechanical key operation, a stainless steel inner tube, and a galvanized coated outer tube keep maintenance simple. It is ideal for low-frequency passages where an automatic system would be overkill.

Waterproof Rating and Environment

Outdoor bollards face rain, dust, and moisture year-round. The YC series achieves IP68 waterproofing as standard, with the YC-02 fully sealed design providing the strongest protection against outdoor dust and rain. For cold climates, the PM-HLC-S804B operates reliably from -35 °C to 75 °C, covering both extreme cold and hot environments. If your site is exposed to frequent flooding or heavy rain, always confirm the waterproof rating and sealed cable entries with the factory before ordering.

Installation Depth and Site Conditions

Foundation requirements differ greatly between models. Fully automatic bollards (YC-01, YC-02) require about 1100 mm of embedment depth with a concrete foundation. Movable bollards (YC-05) need only 160-300 mm, and the shallow-mount series uses a square shallow foundation designed for restricted construction sites. If underground pipes, cables, or rock make deep excavation impossible, a shallow-mount or movable bollard is the right choice. Always verify the underground layout with a site survey before deciding.

Control and System Integration

Modern rising bollards are part of a larger access control system. The standard control box manages 1-8 bollards, while multi-channel systems control 18 bollards or more with group control and an emergency lowering module. The controller works at 220 V with a 24 V control voltage and provides reserved interfaces for card readers and ground loop detectors, making it compatible with access control, license plate recognition, and vehicle detection systems. The control cabinet is rated IP66, and an EPS emergency power module guarantees that bollards can lower safely during a power failure.

Parameters to Confirm with the Factory

The following parameters are configurable and should be confirmed per project: column diameter, lift height, embedment depth, surface finish, column color, warning light configuration, and control quantity. Always provide the site drawings and traffic data when requesting a quotation so that the factory can recommend the correct model and foundation design.
